The roof radiation shield provides protection for the rafters where the chimney passes through the roof.
Use the roof radiation shield if the chimney is enclosed in a chase immediately prior to passing through the roof. If the chimney is not fully enclosed before passing through the roof the roof radiation shield is not required.
